Hybrid multi-criteria decision-making approach to select appropriate biomass resources for biofuel production

Biofuel generation from local biomass resources can significantly contribute to greenhouse gas mitigation and cleaner energy production. In this regard, a hybrid Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (MCDM) approach was employed prioritize appropriate for biofuel Technique Order Preference by Similarity Ideal Solution (TOPSIS), Additive Ratio Assessment (ARAS), Weighted Aggregates Sum Product (WASPAS) were the MCDM approaches. Subsequently, ranking aggregation methods, i.e., Borda, Copeland, Rank Mean, applied integrate rankings obtained Guilan province of Iran selected as case study based on its promising potential production first-, second-, third-generation resources. Initially, through an in-depth review literature use academic professors' expert opinions, ten criteria evaluation indices study: 1) creating technical side jobs, 2) preserving non-renewable resources, 3) relative advantage production, 4) complexity process, 5) cost conversion 6) reusability, 7) supply, 8) environmental impacts accumulation, 9) adaptability process size units attitude knowledge producers, 10) self-sufficiency producer. Moreover, 11 investigated sources rice, peanut, livestock poultry wastes, rice waste, peanut tea residues processing olive slaughter farm-raised fish municipal solid waste sewage, forest wood farming algae Azolla. The results indicated that “municipal wastes sewage”, “forest wastes” “livestock second-generation biofuels identified most important in studied area.
